HDBank International Chess Tournament 2019 round 4: Grandmaster from Venezuela win against Indian chess prodigy

After a win against the 13-years-old Indian chess prodigy Gukesh (ELO 2,529) in the 4th game, Grandmaster Iturrizaga Bonelli Eduardo (ELO 2,639) from Venezuala share the lead position with Grandmaster Bogdanovich Stanislav (ELO 2,536) from Ukraine.

Iturrizaga Bonelli Eduardo is better than Gukesh in terms of both the rating and the experience, also have the advantage of playing White.  Besides, the young Indian player made a mistake and conceded defeat after 55 moves. This victory bring No. 1 player Venezuela rise to the top of the rankings. Iturrizaga Bonelli Eduardo has 4 points compared to Stanislav (Ukraine, elo 2,536), who wins Sandipan (India, elo 2,534) but ranks above thanks to the side factor.

While top seeds like Wang Hao (China), Cheparinov Ivan (Georgia), Demchenko Anton (Russia) all won to chase the leading group. This is also the hard day of the VietNam players when facing a strong opponent, so Nguyen Anh Khoi lost to Wang Hao and Pham Le Thao Nguyen lost to Cheparinov Ivan.

Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son(elo 2.647) had a quick draw with Mendonca Leon Luke (India, elo 2,466), reached 3 points after round 4. Tran Tuan Minh (elo 2.556) also shared point with Laxman (India, elo 2.425), stay in the same group with Truong Son. In the group of 3 points, there are 2 veteran chess players of the host, Tu Hoang Thong and Nguyen Anh Dung.

In Challengers category, player Nelson (Philippines, elo 2,083) is temporarily leading after 4 games. This player has the same score with his countryman Recarte (elo 2,079) and the female champion of the Vietnam National Gymnastics and Sports Conference 2018 Doan Thi Van Anh (elo 1,945).
